Tableau Custom SQL Warning

In Tableau Desktop and Tableau Reader, a Custom SQL Warning message is displayed when you open a workbook or packaged workbook that contains:
  • a custom SQL query in the data connection
  • a raw SQL pass-through in a calculated field
This is an example of the warning:
Response for Tableau Reader Users
If you are using Tableau Reader, click Yes to move past the warning. You can safely disregard it.
Response for Tableau Desktop Users
If you are using Tableau Desktop, examine the SQL statements in the message to make sure that SELECT is the only option offered in the SQL statements. If that is the case, click Yes to move past the warning. You can safely disregard it.
If any SQL statement or custom SQL query includes an update query, you might want to revise that syntax to be sure nothing unexpected can occur.
