I'm surprised that these days, any discussion of Star Wars is rampant with posts declaring that TFA was a mediocre film. As far as I know, when it was first released, everyone loved it. There were flaws, yes, and people were quick to point out its similarities to ANH, but people still appreciated it as a genuinely good movie.
Now, apparently it's one of the laziest movies ever made, and that the characters are boring and the plot stale. So I'm interested to know when the backlash started and if it affected people's perceptions of the movie.
For me, for example, I loved it and I still do. I thought it was reminiscent of ANH and that's not a bad thing -- it reminded me of why I fell in love with Star Wars in the first place. But I feel that its plot is different enough to be unique in its own way, and I really like the new characters. Rogue One hasn't changed my view of TFA at all.
