I was expecting to be blown away by Andrew Garfield again after his excellent performance in 99 Homes, but instead it was Hugo Weaving who surprised me. The scene at the dinner table was electrifying, it pulled me into the scene and the emotion with such force. I rarely see performances that are so embodied they project the kind of automatic, unconscious nuances that you see in everyday life. Terrific film all round.
