I recently asked u/mi-16evil if the ‘movies’ community would be interested hearing about my routine. I was advised to just talk about my experiences viewing so many films. If anyone reading would like to ask a relevant question, I would be glad to answer as best as I can. It is important to note that the only proof I have are my yearly pocket calendars; I write the title of the movie under the day I view it. Name a date between now and the fourth of May, 2012 and I can tell you what I watched.
I would start by saying that watching so many moves has not made me a ‘film expert’. My appreciation for technical aspects has certainly increased, particularly cinematography and lighting. I can identify symbols and themes easier than before I started. There are a few films, studios, actors, directors, and so on that have impressed me more than others; I have watched movies I have thoroughly enjoyed and some that were quite boring. I am in no way qualified to review films. I started doing this simply because I love stories. Yes, there were times when life could have been better and I needed a distraction., but the primary purpose was to just enjoy a succinct daily narrative.
There are just two rules I follow: the picture must me feature length, the viewing must take place between midnight and 11:59pm of any given day. Documentaries are allowed so long as they are feature length.
All in all, I have enjoyed my ‘movie a day’ routine. It has become my hobby. I still regularly read, exercise, work, and socialize as needed. I do not feel like it has inhibited my ability to grow as an individual. Thanks for your attention. Looking forward to have a discussion.
Edit: I am terribly sorry everyone, but looking for one specific day for every year has proven exhausting. I'll answer the ones that have been sent already, but if you could just request one or two from now on, I would be rather grateful. Thank you.
