Growing up I was always fascinated with war movies and war in general. As time goes by though I start to realize that they are more tragic. I say this because I'm watching Platoon right now and just watched the village scene. An incredible scene that shows the struggle of human morality during war. The violence in movies like Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, and the deer hunter is shown for what it is, which is killing. Effective war movies show killing for what it actually leads to and that's death. This is what B list action movies do wrong, killing is so casual. I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this change in perspective as they got older?
