Just finished watching Mission Impossible III again. It’s an amazing franchise when you consider that MI3 is better than 90% of other action movies, and yet is only regarded as the 4th or 5th best in the franchise.
Some observations:
- Philip Seymour Hoffman is the best MI villain, by far.
- The action scenes in this movie are so good, that the actual stealing of the Rabbit’s Foot in Shanghai isn’t even shown. Just the rooftop jump and the escape afterwards are shown.
- The Vatican scene segues to the airplane interrogation scene which segues to the bridge attack. You barely have time to catch your breath.
- Laurence Fishburne’s dialogue in the movie is sublime. It’s like he’s in a different movie.
- I think this is the only MI movie where Tom Cruise technically “dies”.
- The Berlin rescue scene is underrated.
- A cameo by a young Aaron Paul!
