What films, that aren’t in the same series and by different creative teams, do you think pair up well for a double feature. I was thinking about this with “Her” and “Lost In Translation” being my favourite. They both deal with similar themes, but more importantly, and interestingly, they effectively tell two different sides of the same divorce. You can see how it impacted both Coppola and Jonze, with Giovanni Ribisi’s character in “Lost In Translation” having a lot of parallels with Spike Jonze at the time, and his and Charlottes marriage issues mirror a lot of Coppola and Jonze, and how Theodore in “Her” represents a lot of Jonze own loneliness and regrets of a failed marriage.
So what’s your favourite double feature of two otherwise unrelated films, be it thematically, contrast in an actors roles, or any other reason?
