I was a huge trailer guy. Nothing got me more hyped than just mainlining new trailers and dissecting all the different snapshots I saw. But when I went to see Dune (2021), I remember feeling kinda flat when the giant sandworm came out near the end. The reason: I had seen it in the trailer like 26 times. So then and there I swore of trailers forever. Even stuff I'm not even sure I'll watch. Just avoid them completely, even going to the point of putting headphones in when they run before a movie in the theater.
Folks, I've never enjoyed movies more. I just saw Dune Part 2 and it was 2.5 hours of pure joy. Now, watching the trailer which includes EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED, I know my enjoyment of the film would have been max 75% of what it was.
Don't watch the trailers!
