I was thinking about the Martian, and how it sort of portrays the giddy optimism one feels when listening to David Bowie (I can't be the only one, right?). Sure, there are some pieces of minor tension between different characters with good reasons on both sides, but all in all, it seems to be a rare example where no-one dislikes a major character.
I've seen some clips of "The World's Fastest Indian", such as where Burt Munro is questioned by the police but then politely released (I don't know if this theme persists but I heard it does); that subversion of expectation seems rare in movies nowadays, where people expect, and probably want to be shown how flawed people and the world is.
Simple question, are there any more movies like that? And more to the point, are there good movies that are like that?
