Tableau Query Band Not Passed to Teradata

You can use query bands to pass parameters into the Teradata environment. You can use these parameters to improve performance, take advantage of built-in security rules of the database, or serve as tags to identify queries. During connection, Tableau encloses the query band values that you enter in single quotation marks.
For more information about query bands, see Advanced Teradata Options in Desktop Help.

Don’t Add Quotation Marks Manually

If your query band is not passed to the Teradata database, you might have added single quotation marks to your query band. Do not add single quotation marks to your query band statements — Tableau adds single quotation marks automatically during connection for you.

Check Tableau Server User Parameters

For Tableau versions 8.3 and earlier, a query band might not be passed to the Teradata database if the query band contains a Tableau Server user parameter but does not contain the required impersonation parameter counterpart.
When you use the ServerUser parameter, you must include the ProxyUser parameter, and when you use theServerUserFull parameter, you must include the ProxyUserFull parameter.

Tableau Server user and impersonation parameters

When you use the ProxyUseror ProxyUserFull parameters in Tableau Server, some Tableau Server functionality might change. For example, because the ProxyUser and ProxyUserFull parameters cause Tableau Server to treat each user as unique, workbook previews do not display after you publish them to Tableau Server.
