The Delhi Police recently charged filmmaker Mahmood Farooqui, who was the co-director of Peepli Live, for allegedly raping an American research scholar at his residence. The said charge sheet was filed in the court of Devender Kumar Garg (Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate), who has now posted the case for further hearing on August 1.
The complaint against Mahmood Farooqui's allegedly stated that he had raped Colombia University's 30 year old research scholar at his residence on March 28 this year. In her complaint, the research scholar has alleged that Mahmood Farooqui had raped her when she had gone to for her research work on Baba Gorakhnath.
The said charge sheet has been filed for the alleged offences that are punishable under the sections 201 (destruction of evidence) and 376 (rape) of the IPC.
