In 2006 Paramount almost fired Tom Cruise from Mission Impossible for his controversial media appearances. In 2018 Paramount is counting on Tom Cruise to deliver with Mission Impossible and finally give them a big hit in a long while.

The trailer for MI 6 just released and it was one of the best trailers in a while. While watching it I realized how awesome the franchise continues to be after 5/6(hopefully Fallout is as good as the trailer) movies. Cruise was front and center in the trailer and I wondered how at one point he was about to be fired from MI by Paramount for the controversies he had in the mid 2000s. The situation is summarised in the article below:

Now Paramount is going through an extremely rough patch. Their last two big hits were Transformers 4(1.1 billion) and Mission (700 million) Impossible 5 back in 2014 and 2015 respectively. And after a terrible 2017, where even Transformers 5 barely made over 600m with a massive budget, Paramount is looking at Tom Cruise + MI to finally give them another big hit.

It just seemed surprising how Cruise and his excellent crew made a comeback to win back the audience as well as the studio with MI 4 and MI 5 to make the 6th movie a highly anticipated one. Hopefully they deliver again as the trailer makes it look like another fantastic entry.
