Hi Reddit! Dan Perri here.
I'm a title designer and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. I've worked in the Hollywood motion picture business for over 40 years designing nearly 300 special main title sequences for feature films and television shows, including the opening crawl for Star Wars (1977) and title designs and sequences for Close Encounters of The Third Kind, Days of Heaven, Taxi Driver, Airplane, Raging Bull, The Exorcist, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Blood Simple, Nashville, Insomnia, and many others. I've been lucky enough to work closely with some of the most creative and talented filmmakers in the business.
I'm currently working on a new film, Suspiria with director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), as well as a crowdfunding campaign to publish a book about my life and career in Hollywood - The Title Sequence Designs of Dan Perri (you can see a sampling of my work in the campaign video). I'm eager to share the story of my life's work with you. Ask me anything!

Edit: Thanks Reddit – that's all for now! I'll try to visit again in a few days to answer everyone's questions. I greatly appreciate your interest in my work, your curiosity about how I work, and what I've done. I greatly enjoy sharing what I know and talking about my career in Hollywood. That's the entire reason for writing my book. Thank you for your support!
