It is insane to me that PTA made this film at 28 years old while dealing with such a turbulent personal life, one of the all time great filmmaking feats. It feels so beyond his years. It’s such a dense anthology filled with all timer performances especially from Tom Cruise who really does deliver a career best, kinda makes me sad that we never got to see more of that super dramatic side. It just resonated with me in such a profound way, the themes of parental influences during childhood and how they can shape our futures, the search for forgiveness and redemption, and facing our past to find out who we really are just absolutely broke me. Definitely a new contender for my favourite PTA project. Absolutely incredible.
