Hello fellow Cinephiles, I'm new to this sub and wanted to make a discussion post about the movie "Signs". Idk if anyone else has this type of connection to this film but it had and still has a big impact on me. I was around 10 when I first watched it and this movie, till this day, makes my eyes water in fear because genuinely this is the film that started my xenophobia, as in FEAR OF EXTRATERRESTRIALS AND SPACE ALIENS. The aliens from "Signs" are probability some of the scariest ever made, from the way they camouflage to the way they look and talk. At least they are to me.
Fast forward to last night, my girlfriend had never watched or even heard of this movie and me being me decided to introduce her to it. After all, it's a movie that matters a lot to me. We finish watching the movie and my brain starts cranking with ideas:
If God was real, did he create the extraterrestrials and were they sent to Earth to test humanities resilience and faith?
If Graham's wife had survived that night, would they have all perished during the invasion?
Very few movies take on the notion of the existence of God and what it can do to a person's faith when dealing with something incomprehensible like an alien invasion. Idk what M. Night was smoking the day he started writing this film but fuck, despite its cheesy ass moments (aliens invading a planet thats literally 70% covered in what they die to) I think it still one of the best extraterrestrial horror movies ever made. What does anyone else think?? I'm dying to know if there are other people like me out there that have a similar relationship with this film and what it has done to your mind.
