Up until the age of 7, I would be able to process what was happening in a film, but I'd never gather/care WHY it was happening.
For example, I saw that in A Bug's Life, the grashoppers wanted the ants' food, but I never caught that it was kind of an agreement where the ants would give them their food so they wouldn't bother them.
I'd have been one of those kids who'd be confused as to why Tarzan talked normally around the gorillas, but not to people.
