This movie is deeply funny, sad, sincere, strange and charming as hell. It's consistently clever and I found it to be incredibly moving and thoroughly satisfying.
It's a coming-of-age adventure movie that doesn't once condescend toward its teenage protagonist, Ricky (or the audience), even though Ricky is a bit of a delinquent. I felt genuine affection and joy toward these characters. I think Taika Waititi is one of the best comedic directors we've got today.
Holy crap, I'm so happy I finally got to watch it. I adore it so much.
I really cannot recommend this movie enough if you haven't seen it.
It's magical majestical.
