So Lee Byung-hun is the korean actor that pops up in a lot of cheesy action movies, like Storm Shadow in the GI Joe franchise, Red 2, Magnificent 7 (2016), and while he isnt bad in them, he primarily is used as a sort of generic attractive eastern actor placeholder.
Now after going on a Korean movie binge, (Man from Nowhere, Chaser, Memories of Murder, The Host, Train to Busan) I came upon a few of this guys movies, most notably a bitter sweet life, i saw the devil, and the good/bad/weird.
And I have to say... HOLY FUCKING CHRIST this dude has acting chops. I have never seen an actor so consistently good in his films. Not only has he drawn me in to his dramatic charisma, he straight up made me cry twice because of how authentically emotional and cathartic his performance was.
Like normally I wouldn't get so annoyed at a persons filmography, but this dude deserves A LOT more attention in the west, and should be casted in more dramatic/critic aimed pieces. As it stands, this guy is getting shafted.
Also side note: I recommend everyone start checking out Korean films, they are fucking glorious
