I know there's a difference between literally being shitty at acting and being shitty at acting to portray a person but isn't it funny how context can completely change how we perceive performances? We've come full circle with this movie - is James Franco even acting at this point? If he's imitating a bad actor, is it good acting or bad acting?
Edit: I'm not trying to question his nomination or the praise he's getting, but rather pointing out how funny it is that Tommy Wiseau got shat on for playing a character so poorly in a movie to the point where you can hardly call it acting as somebody else but Franco is getting praise for acting as him. If you were to ask someone who doesn't know anything about the Room or the Disaster Artist to compare the acting skills of Franco and Wiseau in their respective films, they probably wouldn't be able to make out much of a difference. And yes, that is a testament to how good Franco's acting is in the movie.
