Office Space and Fight Club - What was it about the late 90's and corporate disillusionment?

It dawned on me today that Office Space and Fight Club came out in the same year and deal with (roughly) the same premise; corporate worker who is disillusioned with their job and life and looking for a change. Their approaches to overcoming their issues aren't the same, but they have the same spirit.

What other media from that era has a similar vibe? I've noticed that the late 90's/early 2000's all share that same aesthetic when it comes to corporate work; bland working conditions, a main character who wears the white shirt and tie but keeps them untucked out loosened, fluorescent lights, etc.

As someone who works in a corporate office, these movies still ring true, but I'm curious what life felt like at the time.
