I rewatched the movie last night for the first time since it released back in 1994. Didn't remember a single thing about it, so it was like watching it anew, and I really enjoyed it, Cruise always makes an excellent villain. Kirsten Dunst was also really impressive.
Anyway, I went to Wiki to read up about the movie and this excerpt made me laugh at how hyperbolic it is:
Oprah Winfrey walked out of an advance screening of the movie only 10 minutes in, because of the gore and dark themes. She considered cancelling an interview with Tom Cruise promoting the film, stating, "I believe there are forces of light and darkness in the world, and I don't want to be a contributor to the force of darkness"
Uh...ok. If she'd stuck around she'd have seen how the movie paints the vampiric way of life as one of constant suffering. (well, except for Lestat who is living his best life lol)
