That awkward title that doesn't reveal the name is for the few people who still haven't seen the movie from the 1970s. So, please don't read further if you haven't seen it because I will talk about key plot point.
Okay, so when I first watched this movie, I was made quite uncomfortable early on by the whole oppressive atmosphere, which was both frightening and enraging. So I was naturally rooting for McMurphy (Jack Nicholson), hoping he'd get out soon. Then things kept getting worse and I really wasn't sure what would happen but still kind of believed he would escape. So the scene toward the end, where Chief (Will Sampson) finds that McMurphy has been lobotomized, and hugs him, and then smothers him to death with the pillow, was devastating. Don't know how many seconds that was but felt like it went on for minutes. Still can't watch that scene without getting emotional.
Which character's death hit you hard? Anything counts, be it murder, dying of a disease or natural disaster or accident or whatever, as long as it really affected you emotionally.
