I watched it yesterday and this is so fascinating. I mean, the movie, Galaxy Quest. I still don´t understand how the studio could go and promote the movie as Christmas kids movie.
And the documentary clearly shows how Galaxy Quest became the very thing they (originally) were going to make a fun of. A sci-fi phenomenon, that is often in the same league as the best of the genre and more.
It also seems that there was an incredibly good atmosphere on the set, no pressure from anybody and they loved it.
The moment they all remember Alan Rickman was so touching. Still a big loss. The way they spoke about him and his work with Tim Allen was so interesting. A typical "two actors who you can never imagine seeing together on screen and they work marvelously".
The critics talking there mentioning this is probably the best Tim Allen role AND that he was not the first choice and he had to fight for it, was something I knew about but hearing it and seeing it makes the casting so much more precious
Loved how the documentary was structured and I will probably rewatch it as multiple times as the movie itself.
I recently watched a documentary about Deep Space Nine and I seriously got an impression the creators and actors could not stand each other (it obviously was not the case because it ran for 7 years but the contrast was obvious)
