It feels like movies today are either massive blockbusters with $200M budgets or tiny indie films.
I miss the movies that sat somewhere in the middle. Films like Prisoners, Nightcrawler, Gone Girl, The Social Network, Drive, Sicario, or The Nice Guys.
They weren't superhero movies, but they also weren't niche arthouse films. They had great casts, strong scriptts and felt like the kind of movies everyone would end up talking about.
Maybe they still exist and I'm just not finding them, but it feels like studios don't make as many of them anymore.
Has anyone else noticed this or am I just looking back with nostalgia?
And if you think these movies are still being made, what recent ones would you recommend?
