When you install or upgrade Tableau Server or Tableau Desktop, you must install the latest Teradata drivers. To install Teradata drivers on Windows, you need to download the .zip file from the Teradata site, and then run three separate installers in the order described below.
- If you have any other Teradata software on your machine that is no longer being used, we recommend that you first uninstall those files as they have been known to cause errors.
- Go to the Tableau Drivers page and click the link for the Teradata drivers to go to Teradata's Downloads page.
- Log in to your Teradata account.
Note: If you don't have an account, click Register in the top-right corner of the page. - Next to ODBC Driver, click Windows.
- Download the latest Teradata ODBC Driver Suite for Windows.
- Create a folder called Teradata and extract the downloaded .zip file to the Teradata folder.
- In \Teradata\ODBC_Suite\x86\SharedICU-32bit or \Teradata\ODBC_Suite\x64\SharedICU-64bit folder, double-click setup.exe to install Shared ICU Libraries for Teradata.
- In \Teradata\ODBC_Suite\x86\TeraGSS-32bit or \Teradata\ODBC_Suite\x64\TeraGSS-64bit folder, double-click setup.exe to install Teradata GSS Client.
- In \Teradata\ODBC_Suite\x86\TDODBC-32bit or \Teradata\ODBC_Suite\x64\TDODBC-64bit folder, double-click setup.exe to install ODBC Driver for Teradata.
- Restart your computer.
You can now connect to Teradata. For more information, see Teradata in Tableau Help.
Note: You can fix errors that refer to "library" issues by reinstalling the SharedICU component.
