How to Add a Web Page to a Dashboard in Tableau

You can use the web page object to embed a page from another website into a Tableau dashboard. For example, if you have hyperlinks in the view, you can embed the page or site that contains the destination of those links. Or you might embed a page with information that supports the analysis shown in your views.

Embed a web page

Step 1

With the dashboard tab displayed, drag Web Page from the Dashboard window to the dashboard area, and position it in the location you want it. Release the mouse when gray shading appears on the correct location.

Step 2

In the Edit URL dialog box, type the URL.
Note: If your dashboard will be published and embedded into web pages, use the https protocol for the web pages you include in your dashboard. Otherwise, if your published dashboard is embedded into a page that runs on a secure site, browsers will not be able to display the content that is not secure.

Change the web page object content

After you include a web page object in a dashboard, you can change the content that it displays any time. You simply change the address that the web page object points to.

Step 1

Open the dashboard for editing, click the web page object so that its container borders appear, and then right-click the top border and select Edit URL.

Step 2

In the Edit URL dialog box, modify the URL appropriately, and then click OK.
For more information about the web page and other dashboard objects, see Adding Dashboard Objects in the Tableau Desktop Help.
