Born On The 4th of July is a film i refused to watch for a long time but i finally watched it yesterday. I did not expect it to be so disturbing.

I wanted to watch this movie because i thought most of it would show the actual combat in Vietnam but my god was i in for a treat. I have to admit im still a little disturbed from watching this film yesterday.

One of the most disturbing war scenes of all time has to be when Tom Cruise takes his team into that village to see if there was any NVA that survived their gunshots in that one building, but it turns out there was no NVA in the building, it was just women, children and babies. Once they realized they just murdered a bunch of women, children and babies Tom Cruise loses his shit mentally. Then Tom Cruise accidentally kills another marine and the way that part is filmed makes it even that more disturbing.

And after he comes home paralyzed and all fucked up he realizes he'll never be able to have children, and the love of his life will never really be his because he's in a wheelchair.

Then the part when he tells that marines family that he accidentally killed their kid, heartbreaking stuff.

And then to find out that the guy who co-wrote the screenplay, Ron Kovic, is the character that Tom Cruise plays in this film, and that most of what happened in this film is real.

This film is jam packed with heavy material and is an amazing depiction of how devastating war can be.
